January 27, 2009 · Filed Under News · 10 Comments

Best Day Foundation is a non-profit that helps kids with special needs gain confidence and self-esteem through adventure activities such as surfing and sledding.

They’re holding a Best Day in the Snow at Thunder Ridge Ski Resort in Patterson, NY on Feb 28th and March 1st. For more info visit: http://www.bestdayfoundation.org/snow_day.php

  • Be prepared for a safe, fun-filled day in the snow with activities including: a snow obstacle course, snow man building, stretching, snow tubing, sledding, and an awards ceremony where every child participant gets a medal and a goodie bag! Rumor has it that we might also have a live Coast Guard helicopter fly by!
  • Please show up on time and on the day you’ve been registered for! 8am for volunteers. 10am for participants and their families. Each snow camp is one half-day experience and should be finished by 2:30pm.
  • Make sure to bring a signed participant liability form or volunteer liability form.
  • Make sure to bring warm clothing suitable for snow-based activities including a coat, hat, and gloves or mittens. Snow suits are great if you have them!
  • Water, hot chocolate, snacks and a hot lunch are provided for all volunteers and participants. Due to the unknown variability in family size, we are unable to provide snacks or lunch for the participant families. Please make sure to plan accordingly. We are having pizza, so if your child is allergic to wheat, gluten or dairy, you’ll also need to make other arrangements.
  • The event is being held at Thunder Ridge Ski Area, located in the rolling hills of Patterson, New York, just 20 minutes from Danbury, CT, 35 minutes from White Plains and only 75 minutes from New York City!

First Tracks Online Media, publishers of the popular First Tracks Online Ski Magazine (www.FirstTracksOnline.com) and UtahSkiAndSnowboard.com, today launched an online Ski & Snowboard Trivia Contest that will reward “those in the know” daily with valuable winter sports accessory prizes.

Visitors to the ski magazine’s website, www.FirstTracksOnline.com, can test their knowledge against questions developed by the magazine’s crack editorial staff. Questions each day will range from simple queries to challenging puzzles that will send readers searching the Internet for answers.

“Our readers are some of the most knowledgeable in the ski world,” explains First Tracks!! Online Media editor Marc Guido, “so we’ll need to keep them challenged! From winter sports history to arcane facts of ski geography, we’ll cover it all.”

Each correct answer will be entered into a daily drawing to win a prize supplied from contest sponsors Bridgedale (www.bridgedale.com) and Serfas Optics (www.serfasoptics.com). Prizes will range from the finest ski and snowboard socks to fashionable eyewear.

“We’re offering a new question each day,” says Guido. “That means a prize a day to keep our readers’ feet warm and eyes well protected on the slopes.”

First Tracks!! Online Ski Magazine’s Ski & Snowboard Trivia Contest is open to residents of the U.S. and Canada, except where prohibited by law. No purchase is necessary to enter. The contest will run daily through February 8, 2009. Contest entry forms and complete rules are available online at www.FirstTracksOnline.com.
